Introduction Blog 6201
Hi, my name is Dawn Ladislas. When trying to decide what to
tell about myself, I will talk about my collection of stuffed pandas. I also
collect books, CDs, and dolls (Barbie’s and Native American).
I am going for my second master’s in addictions, but I earned my first in
Communications and Training. I have a dog and cat that I love and one of my
hobbies is to raise money for animal shelters. I have enjoyed the last semester
and hope the same will occur this semester
The one thing I took away from 6101 was learning styles. I think that was a great way to look at learning. We all learn different ways and the positive about online is the teacher can develop alternative ways to learn. For me, I learn in many ways, including doing, reading and writing, listening and watching. I look at online teaching as more of a facilitator, helping
the students, but allowing them to work at their pace. The educator provides a
way for the student to learn in a way that benefits them, such as incorporating
online technologies such as PowerPoint and Google Maps.
Having worked in instructional design, I hope this will make me more marketable
in the field. I especially look forward to facilitating a chat and designing a
class. I am interested either in corporate training (where I previously worked)
or college teaching. When I worked in corporate training, I had to develop
training programs that helped all kinds of learners and knowing the different
learning styles is important when deciding which group to work with and why.
